Discovered designers

During this project I have discovered some designers I haven't seen before so I wanted to include them on here because I have not put them into my final trend book.

Falguni and Shane Peacock
Spring/Summer 2011

A husband and wife team who set up there couture label in 2004. They use svelte silhouettes and the finest fabrics which are available on their doorstep in India. They made their debut in 2008 at London Fashion Week

'Our designs are the treaded reality of our dreams and inspirations, an amalgamation of colours, textures and vivid embellishments'.

I was drawn to their work by their bright vivid prints and their creative silhouettes. Their maxi dresses are my favourite garments in this collection.

Samantha Cole

Samantha Cole London is an International Award winning contemporary British brand.
She won the Best Womenswear Designer in 2009 at New York Fashion Week for her Spring/Summer collection.
Her inspiration comes from modern day trends although she does not rely on it for the direction of her collections.

A Journey of Self Discovery
This collection is very tailored and the silhouettes are amazingly over sized which is why this collection is the one I think is the most inspirational to me. Her clients are said to wear this label to 'make a statement and convey a characteristic of their personality through unspoken words', and I think this collection does exactly that.
The collection is influenced by Edwardian and Victorian era with loose Gothic references. The point of this collection is the journey the wearer goes on. The journey to the discovery of herself.

 A New Dawn
Here she uses quilted fabrics and creates structured silhouettes making the garments both hard and soft. This collection is based on the current economic climate in relation to the feeling of 'coming out, coming through, a fresh start and something new'.
The textured shapes in the fabric were inspired by geometric architecture dating back to Ancient Egypt. A simple colour palette was used it highlight the texture and shapes in the collection.

Warrior
As the name suggests this is a strong collection with again  both hard and soft elements. The inspiration came from the social and economic climate at the moment. There are harder edges and structured layering which comes from modern architecture.
This collection is also a combination of three strong women, Kate Beckinsale from 'Underworld', Tina Turner from 'Mad Max' and Jane Fonda from 'Barbarella'. The combination of these women represent a woman's strength and power in the face of difficult times.
